Our Primary Organizational Purposes and Activities include the following:

To Educate and Advocate:
|
- To promote an understanding of the watershed basin and the ecosystem of the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve located in Leon County, Florida.
- To advocate sound land use and growth management policies affecting the Lake Jackson Basin and State Aquatic Preserve.
- To publicize and promote the activities and efforts of the Alliance and supporters and other organizations to protect the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve.
- To provide media resources with credible information to promote public awareness and education about the Lake Jackson Aquatic Preserve and its watershed.
- To work with local citizen and homeowners organizations, elected officials and government staff in any way possible to protect the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve.

Rules and Regulations to Protect:
|
- To formulate and implement solutions to protect the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve consistent with the intent of the Lake Protection Description in the Land Use Element of the Tallahassee/Leon County Comprehensive Plan and the implementing Land Development Regulations.
- To encourage the enforcement of laws, rules, and ordinances that protect the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve and its surrounding watershed.
- To work with other agencies charged with protecting the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve such as but not limited to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Northwest Florida Water Management District and the Florida Department of Community Affairs.
- To challenge permits, development orders, regulations, plan amendments, and other development activity that threaten the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve.

To Monitor, Evaluate and Assist:
|
- To promote the creation of a useful information system for monitoring, evaluating, reporting and distributing data on the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve, its surrounding watershed, and its ecosystem.
- To offer assistance to other organizations concerned with protecting the Lake Jackson State Aquatic Preserve its watershed and ecosystem, and its surrounding neighborhoods.
- To offer and mobilize a grassroots based volunteer force on request to meet these goals.
